Final Fantasy 4 and for the DS is known to have several hidden summons.
Imp Summon - To get this summon, you must fight imps or trickers in battle until the item is randomly dropped. The imp does very little damage, but amusing to have.
Mage Summon - To get the mage summon, you must fight the Mage until the item is randomly dropped.
Bomb Summon - To get this one, you must fight Ballon’s or Grenade’s until the item is randomly dropped.
Cocatris - You must fight Roc Baby or the Eagle in battle until the item is randomly dropped.
The question you may ask, is it worth it? If your just trying to beat the game, no… but if you trying to end the game with everything that you can find, they are worth getting.
As you can see, the Final Fantasy 4 / FF4 / FFVI Overworld Map is big, but not to big. There are only several locations that you can fly to and several hidden areas. Click the Overworld Map to enlarge it’s view.
Excalibur is always a sword worth getting. The same information applies to all variations of Final Fantasy 4 (DS - GBA - SNES). First of all, you need to get the Rat’s Tail. Wondering what it is? Good question. Just joking. In order to get this item, you need to goto the Cave of Summons in the underground world. You can find it in one of the treasure chest when you first enter the city (not where the shops are, but where there are just monsters and several chest). Once you have that, goto the upper world and goto Silvera with your hovercraft.
Land next to Silvera and get into yourcraft. Go southeast from there (the youtube video is good to watch for this). You will land next to a small cave and you go in there. You will see a little man and he will trade you the rats tail for the Adamant Ore. Now go back to the underworld and travel DIRECTLY south. You will see a town named Tomra. Look for a blacksmith that is east of the town. Give him the Adamant ore and guess what? He makes Excalibur. Just to piss you off, you have to wait nearly 20 minutes, so go enjoy a burger and coke while waiting for this. After 20 minutes, you will receive the legendary sword - Excalibur.
The Cave of Summon Monsters is an important quests if you want to receive the more powerful summons for Final Fantasy 4. The same information applies to the FF4 DS version also. In order to get there, you are required to take the Falcon and go in the Underground World. To find the location, search for a remote island in the middle left western side of the map. You should find an entrance.
When in there, you will notice that there is lava. I myself had managed to get through the cave… struggling, taking damage from walking over the lava… but this is not suggested. To get around that, take Rosa and haver her cast “Float”. When completing that next step, you will notice that you can walk over the lava trails without any problems. It’s also good to use for any enemies (that I recall) that cast earthquake.
Proceed deeper inward the cave and there are about three or four levels that you will go through. On that final level, you will notice there is a spot to teleport; step on that. You will be transported to the town within the Cave of the Summon Monsters. Before doing anything, go around the town, talk to the townsfolk, get the rat-tail (for another quest), and save your placement. After you save, search for the Library that is west of the twon. Head inward and you will notice a series of staris. Go down the stairs. You will do this twice. Suddenly, you will be in a room with an old man and woman sitting in charis. If you saved, you will be fine. Don’t be like me and accept the battle without saving (because you will be pissed going through the cave again). The first person you will talk to is Queen Asura.
Queen Asura
Queen Asura is not difficult at all. The key to beating here is casting Wall (Reflect - Nintendo DS Version) on her. She will attempt to cure herself. If you cast Wall(Reflect) the cures will bounce and hit you. Keep fighting her until she is defeated, but cast Wall(Reflect) when it wears down. Beating her will result in Rydia having the ability to summon Queen Leviathan.
King Leviathan
One of the important keys to beating Leviathan is that you enough life to withstand his attacks in the first place (large wave is the killer). Anyways, if you find yourself constantly dying before having the ability to do anything, go back out and gain several levels. Once your ready to fight, focus your attacks by using lighting on him. Cast shell on your characters and keep yourself constantly healed. Beating him will result in Rydia having the ability to summon King Leviathan.

Adamant Armor is insanely strong and is worth getting, but is lengthy and difficult due to luck and chance invovled. First you need to get the Pink Tail from the Pink Puffs in the Lunar Subterrane’s B5F; it is in a tiny room. There’s only one problem involved, they are rare and hard to bump into and it’s insanely rare (hope you have lots of time). Even when the Pink Puffs appear, there is only 1 / 64 chance of receiving a Pink Tail. So if you take the rare encounter factored by the rare drop, you will find it very difficult to receive this item.
Once you have the Pink Tail, you need to use the hovercraft and proceed to the direction on Silvera (located on earth). Head in a southeastern direction to a small cave by several rocks. When you find yourself inside, there is a tiny figure inside and you give him the Pink Tail. Once you give him this item, you will receive the Adamant Armor.
Final Fantasy 4 is the first Final Fantasy to bring a set of very unique characters. Even though the game retains the idea of the crystals and certain job classes, it was the first time that Square-Enix has given life to the personalities of these characters. * Article Not Completed

Square-Enix has developed one of the most enjoyable games never thought possible. That game is Final Fantasy IV; developed for the Nintendo DS. Playing the orginial Final Fantasy 4 for the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System), the games has been revamped, balanced, and given certain new features that makes the game very enjoyable.
What makes this version unique is it’s new 3D graphics, voice, and rewritten story phrases. The orginial Final Fantasy 4 for the US was not predicated to be that successful. When I was 9 years of age, I was one of the few kids who played Final Fantasy and I remember saving my lunch money for it. What made the orginial Final Fantasy 4 at times agonizing was the generic story line. The DS version of this game has been made to be more user friendly, adds a more complete story, and best of all … the characters reflect today’s modern times (old FF4 was very stiff).
You’ll enjoy your favorite characters: Cecil, Golbez, Yang, Cid, Palom, Parom, Zemus, Tellah, Edward, Rosa, and many others. The game still composes of the same cities, including the infamous Kingdom of Baron.
The graphics are amazing for playing on a DS and as always, the story is well written. The sound has been improved, but I feel at times that the difficulity of the game has been reduced. In the end, you’ll find yourself playing it again.
This article will help explain the purpose of augments in Final Fantasy 4. The Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy 4 has been revised in using a new ability called “augments”. To my suprise, I was completely unaware of it in first playing the game. I’ve beaten the old FF4 over 20 times and noticed that these abilities change the game play greatly. They are given to you as key items and are given for certain reason. Several of the characters have new abilites, but when a character dies, it’s ability is passable to a new player. In order to receive them, you must do certain things in order to receive them.
How to use an augment:
You must first collect an augment to use it. This guide will further explain where the augments can be found.
Access the menu by pressing the “X” button. You must be in an area to access the menu, for example, walking around on the world map.
Next, goto “Inventory” from the option list. In the upper right corner, you will notice the selectable option of “Key Items”. Go there and select that. The tiems there that have a bag-like icon are the augments, if one is in the inventory. The augment is only able to be used once. It’s highly recommended to save the game before using in it in order to test them out.
It’s important to decide on which augment to use on what character. For example, using “Counter” on Rosa would be a bad idea. Even though she does some damage, she would do very little. Using Cecil or Edge in this option would be the best idea.
Select the “A” button to pick the augment. Press it once more and select the character that you want to use it in. Now your character has that ability to use the augment.
